Today is my first day "officially" back to work. Mrs. Josie (my Nanny who also shares my daughters name) is here so I can sit and get my LONG list of work accomplished.
My break was WONDERFUL! I spent the last 3 and a half weeks away from my computer with friends & family, and some much needed quality time with my hubby and the kids. I also found time to clean house! I went through every drawer, toy and closet and am feeling much more organized. Inside and out. IT FEELS SO GOOD!
I also have BIG plans for the business in 2010! Couture is off to a great start including a complete new look with a new logo and marketing materials underway, AND this might be one of my last posts before I launch my NEW BLOG! So stay tuned!
This is Jason and I with the kids. St. George Street Inn in Down Town St. Augustine during Christmas. Run, don't walk to the phone to book there! I highly recommend it!
What a year. I am sure we can all take a small sigh of relieve that we made it through and are still alive an kicking! As usual, I feel blessed to have a carrier that has allows me to be a part time stay-at-home Mommy. My days are filled to the brim with trying to balance work and home, but as much as I complain sometimes I am thankful to have a full life both inside and out! This holiday break has been much needed. The few weeks of stepping away from my computer has allowed me to focus much more intently on my family. These days have been magical and memory filled, and I thank you for your understanding in being a bit out of reach!
Well, 2009 proved to be an awesome year for Couture Weddings! We were published twice in both Waters Edge Magazine and The Knot Florida, which we couldn't be more thrilled about! We have a bunch of exciting new things to come including a NEW BLOG and new custom 2010 wedding collections! Contact info@coutureweddingstudios if interested in a brochure.
Thank you again for a beautiful year and I wish you all a wonderful Happy New Years Eve!
Jaime
This is my Josie New Years 2007 (pre-Jake.) I wanted to take ones this year, but this time off I have taken pretty seriously :-)
I think. I THINK this my "to do" on my long list of Holiday chores. Not that blogging is a chore in anyway to me. Actually, I miss my computer awfully bad these days. During my break, I haven't been on it except to check my depleting bank account and the weather in over 5 days! That is pretty much a lifetime to me. I owe her (my computer) a hug.
The studio will be closed through January 4th, but you are welcome to contact me via facebook or email (jaime@jaimesmithphotography.com.) in the meantime.
Well, as I sit here a night before a night before Christmas, I want to take the time to say Happy Holidays to my wonderful family, friends, clients and happy blog readers out there. I appreciate more than ever you and this AWESOME year you have helped us to achieve.
I wanted to post photos from our family portrait session with Ingrid Damiani, but I haven't had a moment. In the meantime, here is our holiday card which I was overjoyed to be able to use the images in the design. I promise to post a bunch of my favorites from the session after the holidays. I just love them and can't wait to share!
Thank you, thank you, thank you from the bottom of my heart for your support and I wish you all a blessed holiday!
If you can't read above, below is a close up. I decided to write a brief synopsis of each family member this year.
HAPPY HOLIDAYS & HAPPY NEW YEAR!
Jaime
This is the second year one of my best friends and Couture Weddings business partner, Amy Barry, asked me to photograph her family for her holiday cards this year. As usual, she assures me that her kids will be wonderful to work with and it should only take five minutes of my time. You mothers and photographers out there know that five minutes with five kids is practically impossible. Well, not for the Barrys! Her kids are old pros and held their practiced poses beautifully, but I do think your session lasted about ten minutes, Amy.
I decided to post this to show you how amazing Amy and her family is. Number one, she has five children! Hello?! That in itself is an enormous feet. But, to manage the busy life of a Mom and a successful photography business is pure talent and devotion. Amy talks a lot about her trials and tribulations as a mother of five on her Family Blog. Check it out if you haven't before. She has taken a break from it for a while, but in the mean time you can follow her on Facebook which is a constant source of entertainment let me tell you.
I hope she doesn't mind me sharing the email she sent me yesterday thanking me for my whole ten minutes of time. I was just floored by how much my photo meant to her and think it encapsulates her love for her family; "I just want to thank you again for giving me the BEST Christmas Present EVER! I am so happy to finally have my family portrait. It's literally something I have wanted my entire life. I always wondered what my 'whole' family would look like. And now I have my answer. And I have a portrait of it to hang on the wall and cherish forever. Your gift is priceless." This is why I LOVE my job.
Luv u Amy-Sue!

Thank so much!- Jaime
New Years Eve 2007 Jason was working, so I spent the evening at my friend Tara & John's house with the two kids and their daughter, Brooke. It was certainly a low key affair, but as usual enjoyed their company and conversation. These two keep a Book of Dreams, a "To-Do-Before-You-Die" list, if you will. They have their entire relationship's New Years Eve's lists in there. I was super impressed.
They also have a few friend's list of dreams from company they have had in the past, and that night they added a new page for me. In no particular order of achievement I put 1. Visit Egypt and 2. Run a half marathon I had 3. Grace the cover of a wedding magazine! Never in my wildest dreams would I have imagined that in less than two years I would be looking at the proof, and no it wasn't running a half marathon :-) I feel blessed beyond belief that I get to do what I love for a living, and now know that if you work hard good things will DEFIANTLY happen.
Waters Edge Weddings contacted Amy and asked if we had recently photographed a beach wedding. It couldn't have been better timing! We had just shot Brett & Michelle's Sawgrass Beach Club Wedding in Ponte Vedra Beach. Their wedding was truly out of a fairytale and knew it would be the right one for their publication. CLICK HERE to read their love story on Waters Edge's on-line version. They had said they were going to feature their story then a few weeks later we learned one of their images would grace the cover as well! My jaw hit the floor!
Thank you, Michelle & Brett for being such great clients throughout this process! What a cool memory and keep-sake for you guys to look back on. You are a beautiful couple and deserve all that life has to offer!
Also, I want to thank my Couture Weddings partner Amy Barry who shares in this achievement! Four years ago a friend of mine who booked Amy called me, following her newborn session, and said I had to give Amy a call! She thought we had a lot in common and that we could really hit it off. I had recently started my business and needed a friend in the industry desperately. Well, my friend was right and after sharing a studio and launching Couture Weddings, I know the importance not only of having good friends in this business, but having a trustworthy business partner as well. She is an amazing person and extremely talented photographer! Congratulations, Amy for yet another achievement! I love you.
Lauren Rossi is quite the experienced model. This girl can rock some posing!
Over 80 photographers showed up!
Super sweet Arielle was too fun to work with!
Love the girl-next-door look.
Sally's hair contrasted with the grass perfectly! She can pull off this sexy sweet look like a superstar!
I am approaching my 4th year in business and it seems not a day goes by that I don't learn something new. Most days I love that about that about my job and yesterday was certainly one of them! I attended a Jax Shoot Club Photo Shoot hosted by Le Doice Vita Studio and Kara Pennington Photography. I have been to many seminars with fashion models, but this is actually the first time I have ever got to shoot! It was a blast and definitely enjoyed "playing" which I rarely have time to do!
I must give a big shout out to the models for volunteering their time for us! They were extremely accommodating and professional with us paparazzi!
Also, thank you to Faythe Mesic who ROCKED all the models make-up and Sonia Garza who made those amazing hair-dos, who both volunteered their time. For any of you brides out there, I would run not walk to these ladies for your big day!
For you fellow photographers who want to bounce ideas off of other photogs and challenge your shooting techniques, this is definitely a club you don't want to miss! For information about upcoming shoot-outs and events join their CLICK HERE and join their Facebook page.
I posted a month ago about our recent decision to move our studio. It all came about so sudden and everything just fell into place. We are still not 100% finished, but my studio partner, Stacy, and I couldn't be more excited to be here! All but a handful of clients have seen it our new space, so I figured I would post a few photos of the space so far.
In my wildest dreams I never thought I would have my own studio space, let alone a ROCKIN one like this! I have to give a warm thank you to my friend Stacy & Mark (my studio partner and hubby) for their continued hard work with organizing this space. I wouldn't be here with out you!
CLICK HERE to see it on Google Maps. Hope to see you here soon!
